Annual National Conference
March 17 – 21, 2009
Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers ·
Chicago, IL
The USHLI conference continues to be a transformative experience in people’s lives, and the largest and best leadership conference in the nation. Whether it’s because of someone you met, someone you heard, or a life-changing decision made, the USHLI conference is where wings take flight, where dreams take on new life, and where destiny comes into reach.
The theme of our 2009 national conference is “Grasp the Power of Leadership to Serve Your Community.” Building on the gains made in 2008 through the electoral process, where Latino civic participation reached new heights, this conference will focus on coalition building, poverty, and controversial issues of public policy including health security, financial security, education, mortgage foreclosures and comprehensive immigration reform. The 2010 Census will be a major topic, given its long term economic and political implications. Workshops and forums will be highly interactive, informative, and strengthen leadership skills. And, our exhibit show will offer entertainment, employment opportunities, and provide useful information on health, the environment, safety and many other pertinent issues.
Speakers will include members of Congress and state executives. Representatives of the incoming administration will be invited. And, the USHLI national conference will again offer the very best standing ovation quality Latino speakers in the nation.
The mission of the USHLI conference continues to be to cultivate the next generation of Latino leaders, train a broad cross section of Hispanic leaders by promoting education and unity, provide opportunities for advanced leadership skills development, and create a new generation of servant leaders based on the values of cultural pride, integrity, and empowerment.
Our 27th annual conference is expected to attract over 6,500 participants representing 500 cities in 40 states and approximately 1,000 affiliated groups and organizations. For more information please contact USHLI at tdeavours@ushli.org or by calling (312) 427-8683.
