21st Century Leaders Internship
The 21st Century Leaders Internship of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute is a ten (10) week program that promotes grassroots community organizing and leadership development in key impact areas.
Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders
The Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders was established by the USHLI Board of Directors in 1994. To date USHLI has awarded $214,500 in scholarships to Hispanic students throughout the United States.
Students for an Educated Democracy (Project SED)
Project SED is a classroom-based civic education program for high school students in grades 9-12. This program features classroom instruction by social studies teachers utilizing USHLI materials including a teacher’s manual, bilingual instructional booklets, learning exercises, issues and candidate research, and mock elections.
Leadership and Educational Policy Studies (LEPS)
LEPS is a six-week program designed to create a cadre of students in grades 9-12 with advanced skills in professional and personal development and a working knowledge of education policy.
Collegiate Leadership Development Program (CLDP)
CLDP is a seven-week, interactive, bilateral, policy-oriented training program for Latino student leaders and university staff, faculty, and administrators. The program is designed to focus on how to formulate, exercise, and influence policy.
SALSA - The Strategic Alliance of Latino Student Associations
SALSA is designed to recruit Latino high school students for college and to facilitate closer and more effective networking /events coordination between Latino student organizations on campuses across the United States.
Conferences and Events
All four conferences are an integral part of USHLI's strategy to organize and train the next generation of Latino leaders in the United States. Students are encouraged to attend at least one regional conference (Midwest Hispanic Leadership Conference, Northeast Latino Student Leadership Conference, and the Central States Hispanic Student Leadership Conference), and to attend the annual National USHLI Conference.
