Call for Workshop Proposals

USHLI’s workshop priorities for the 38th USHLI National Conference will focus on equitable practices, strategies, and innovative methods utilized to create and improve systems and policies that undermine and exclude marginalized communities across the country. We ask that each workshop proposal falls within one of the following areas and subgroups:

Undergraduate Workshops

  • Education
  • Environmental Science
  • Equity
  • Health & Wellness
  • Leadership Development
  • Pathways for Women in Leadership
  • Public Policy
  • Redistricting/Census
  • Voter registration/GOTV
  • Workforce Development

Young Professional Workshops

  • Education
  • Environmental Science

  • Health & Wellness

  • Pathways for Women in Leadership
  • Public Policy
  • Redistricting/Census

General Guidelines

  • All workshops should be 75 minutes long: 60 minutes for the presentation and 15 minutes for a Q&A session.
  • Presentations need to be in PC compatible format. In the event we encounter technical difficulties, please bring your presentation material on a flash drive.
  • Each presenter is responsible for bringing his or her own laptop, and Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor for Mac computers.  HDMI to USB-C adapter for newer laptops
  • USHLI will provide presenters with a screen and LCD projector to facilitate the presentation. Wifi is not accessible in the workshop rooms.
  • Workshop presenters are responsible for the reproduction of any handouts.

Important Dates

  • Proposal deadline: November 11, 2019 at 11:59 pm (CST).
  • Acceptance notification: January 21, 2020
  • Schedule: Friday, February 20 and/or Saturday, February 21, 2020.
