  • Since 2011, Denny’s has been preparing students for the future through the Hungry for Education™ scholarship program. They have given away over $2.7 million in scholarships to support deserving students who are truly difference-makers in their communities.

  • In 2025, Denny’s HFE scholarship program is partnering with USHLI to award scholarships to deserving high school and college students for their ideas on bringing communities together.

Denny's Hungry for Education Scholarship Requirements

All applicants must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution (high school or college) in the continental United States or Puerto Rico.

  • All applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • If an applicant is under 18 and is selected as a potential HFE scholarship recipient, the student’s parent or legal guardian must sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Assignment of Rights to be confirmed as a winner.
  • Scholarship funds awarded to winners must be used for education, such as tuition and related fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
  • GPA Level Requirement: 2.5 or higher
  • Students must provide a 300-word (high school) or 500-word (college) essay on “How Denny’s can help bring communities together?”. 
  • Student must also provide the following:
    • A recent portrait photo (headshot), suitable for use in any printed literature announcing the recipients. Selfies or cropped photos are not accepted.
    • Most recent school transcript, all transcripts must be attached as a PDF document. Unofficial Transcripts are accepted.
    • Applicants must submit a one-page resume in PDF form.
    • Scholarship award: Students will receive a one-time, non-renewable scholarship of $2,000.
