The USHLI will launch its 2023 Student Leadership Series (SLS) on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at their 2023 National Conference. The venue for the SLS will be the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk. The SLS serves as the cornerstone of USHLI’s campaign to create a culture of education in which academic persistence will become a priority in every Latino household. The program focuses on motivating students to stay in school, improve their academic performance, graduate from college, and pursue and successfully complete some level of post-secondary education or training. Since 2011, the SLS has reached over 907,597 participants across 39 states and over 3,141 organizations. Check-in will begin at 8:30 am CT, with the program commencing at 9:30 am CT will conclude at 2:00 pm CT.
The program will consist of a Motivational Student Rally, Scholarship and Financial Aid Workshop, followed by our National Undergraduate Recruitment Fair.
The keynote speaker for the SLS Launch will be Mateo Raul Magdaleno. Mateo, is a dynamic speaker, author, and Chief Education Officer for the IDQ Group which provides innovative education strategies to corporations, non-profit, government agencies, universities and school districts who are committed to reducing the dropout rate and increasing college enrollment among underserved students.
The National Undergraduate Recruitment Fair will begin at 12:00 pm CT and will host 100+ institutions of higher education including liberal arts colleges, state colleges, private colleges and universities, as well as large research universities.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are limiting the total number of students & counselors that will be able to attend this upcoming SLS Launch program. We highly encourage you to register students & staff at your earliest opportunity. The cost of registration is $2.00 per participant which includes admission and lunch on the go.
