“Latinas in Politics” Forum Features Prominent Leaders

The Latinas in Politics forum will feature women from various levels of government.

Are you a young professional interested in pursuing a career in politics? Join the conversation on Thursday, August 9, 2018, and learn what it takes to run for office!  The forum will be held from 4:30 – 5:30 P.M. at the Hyatt Regency Chicago – West Tower, 151 East Wacker Drive in the Toronto Room. This event is FREE and open to the public. During this forum, Senator Iris Martinez (IL-20), Mara Candelaria Reardon (IN- 12), Anna M. Valencia, City Clerk of Chicago, Eira Corral Sepúlveda, Village Clerk of Hanover Park, and Beatriz Fausto-Sandoval, Judge-elect for the 14th Subcircuit Court of Cook County, will discuss the victories and challenges of running for office as women of color. The forum will examine the career paths they followed, how they utilized their network to find mentors, and why attendees need to further develop their leadership skills to engage, organize, and mobilize young voters. Representative Linda Chapa LaVia (IL-83) will also moderate the forum. The overall goal of our forum is to inspire young professional Latinas to pursue a career in politics.

Additionally, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, representing Illinois’ 9th Congressional District, will deliver the keynote address at our  2018 Annual Dinner Celebration. General Admission tickets are $100.00 per person. Tickets for the event can be purchased HERE.
